CrabPretzels.com is a Maryland crab pretzel directory and review site. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site collects and what happens to it. If you have questions, email contact@crabpretzels.com.

Anonymous crab ratings

You can tap a 1 to 5 crab rating on any restaurant page without an account. To keep voting fair, your browser stores a random ID so the site can count one vote per browser. That ID is random, it is not tied to your name, email, or anything else about you.

Email sign-in for written reviews

Leaving a written review or uploading photos requires signing in with your email. The site sends you a sign-in link instead of asking for a password. Your email address is stored so the site can keep your account working and show your chosen display name next to your reviews. It is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

Photos

Photos you upload with a review are stored on the site's servers and shown publicly once your review is approved. Only upload photos you took yourself or have the right to share.

If you join the newsletter, the site stores your email address and which page you signed up from, so it can send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Anonymous site analytics

The site counts page views to understand which restaurants and pages people like. Each count records the page visited plus an approximate location (country, state or region, and city) taken from the network connection. No IP addresses are stored anywhere, not even in scrambled form. City-level location is approximate and often reflects your internet provider's location rather than your exact town. These counts are only visible to the site's editor in the admin area.

Hosting analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which provides basic traffic statistics (such as total visits and top pages) as part of running the site. Cloudflare also blocks bots and attacks automatically.

Cookies

The site uses browser storage for practical things: remembering your sign-in session, your anonymous rating ID, and your newsletter signup. It does not use advertising trackers.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
